McLeod Kredell Architects Named One of Ten Worldwide "Vanguard" Firms
Architectural Record, the foremost architecture journal, has named McLeod Kredell Architects as one of its 2020 Design Vanguard firms. Design Vanguard is “Record’s annual honors highlighting ten emerging practices from around the globe…the firms at the forefront of design, led by architects to watch.” McLeod Kredell are the first Vermont architects to receive the prestigious award.
Featured in the May issue of Architectural Record, the editors’ profile of McLeod Kredell notes, “[t]hrough teaching, working with private clients, partnering with communities, and working alongside students and volunteers, they practice an architecture that gives back, and honors people and place.” The commendation states, “John McLeod and Stephen Kredell believe that design is more than aesthetics or technology: it is an approach to practice, and theirs is that anyone and anywhere deserves design.” Read More
Congratulations to Michael Hoffman on Becoming an AIA Emeritus Member
Michael Hoffman, AIA has been granted Emeritus member status of the American Institute of Architects. Hoffman has served AIA both locally and nationally, as a member of AIAVT's Board of Directors, including a term as Chapter President, as well as on the AIA National Strategic Council, and as the Northeast Regional Director for New England. Hoffman recently retired after 28 years on the faculty of the School of Architecture + Art at Norwich University. Emeritus members continue to be able to take advantage of all of the benefits of AIA membership, with their membership dues waived and membership status set to automatically renew each year.
Yestermorrow Announces New Executive Director, Britton Rogers
As Yestermorrow Design/Build School enters its 40th year of hands-on education, we are pleased to announce Britton Rogers as the 13th Executive Director of our institution. Britton Rogers has been involved with Yestermorrow for over 10 years in a variety of capacities as a student, staff member and instructor. Britton holds a Bachelor of Architecture from UT Austin and a Masters Degree in Environmental Design from Yale where he continued on as an instructor for two years until moving to Vermont.
Britton has worked as Project Architect and Manager at Ike Kligerman Barkley Architects and Peter Marino Architect in NYC, and Centerbrook Architects and Planners, Knight Architecture, and as an Environmental Design Consultant at Atelier Ten in New Haven, Connecticut. He went on to start his own Architecture and Landscape Design Practice, which ran for over five years with projects in the Northeast, Texas, and Colorado. Britton is a Licensed Architect, a LEED Accredited Professional, and a Certified Master Gardener. Read More
Freeman French Freeman Dining Hall Recognized as Favorite by UVM Students
The student-run website UVM Bored has recognized Simpson Dining Hall as the students' favorite eatery for five consecutive years. Located on the Redstone Campus, the LEED Silver facility focuses on fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Simpson Hall is one of many food service projects completed by Freeman French Freeman of Burlington. Read More
