ACX Request for Opportunities
Date: 3/28/25 5:00 PM
Location: Vermont
We are looking for ways to help our communities. In the wake of 2 years of catastrophic and widespread
flooding across Vermont, amidst a backdrop that includes 2 years of the highest global temperatures ever
recorded, record breaking destructive hurricanes, and widespread and devastating wild fires.
If your municipality was affected by flooding in 2023 or 2024, or if there is a local non-profit organization in
your town that has need of expert opinions to meet the coming climate challenges, this is an opportunity to
meet with Engineers, Architects, Construction experts, and Manufacturers in a collaborative setting, to get some expert advice and to make some connections with people that can help.
This symposium is expected to draw 100+ attendees and exhibitors from across the Northeast region, bringing together architects, engineers, contractors, manufacturers, business leaders and other experts from the building industry.
Sessions and exhibits will include a Keynote address on the future of our built environment, technical
presentations and case studies on Vermont flood plains, flood hazard mitigation & flood response design, a
product trade show, and most importantly, an afternoon workshop where teams of experts will be available to
meet with municipalities and non-profit orgs that need help preparing for the next catastrophe.
Example workshop Submission Themes:
• Community planning needs for areas of town that repeatedly flood.
• Looking for strategies to safeguard critical structures (emergency services, schools, etc).
• How can we future-proof our building(s) for a renewable energy future.
• How can we address housing shortages due to FEMA buyouts.
These are not the only possible submissions! If your community or local non-profit has a built environment
issue and it is related to recent flooding or the impending global climate crisis, then your submission will be
considered for this symposium workshop. Special consideration will be given to submissions coming from
communities that have experienced flooding in both 2023 and 2024.
Up to 10 submissions will be accepted for this Symposium. Teams with accepted proposals should plan for
up to 2 people to attend this conference for the full day of programming at no charge.
