Please join the Vermont Green Building Network (VGBN) for this Low Carbon Materials Tour in Essex Junction, Vermont featuring New Frameworks and Glavel on Thursday, October 24th starting at 3:30pm. Come learn more about these low carbon and carbon-storing building materials!

We will kick off the tour at New Frameworks (18A Morse Drive in Essex Junction), where attendees will view the process of creating local, organic, carbon-storing, pre-fabricated structural straw insulated panels (S-SIPS) and accessible, high performance kit homes called Casitas. New Frameworks' mission is: We make buildings that heal and reconnect people and planet. This tour will be hosted by New Frameworks' multi-racial, immigrant-, women-, queer- and trans-owned worker cooperative that is committed to a kinder sort of building.

We will then visit Glavel (131 Red Pine Circle in Essex Junction) nearby and tour one of North America's first foam glass gravel manufacturers. Foam glass gravel is a lightweight, insulating, low embodied carbon aggregate made for the construction industry as a replacement for rigid board insulation. Join Glavel CEO & Founder Rob Conboy on a tour of the manufacturing facility, where recycled glass is transformed into foam glass gravel. Learn why Conboy purchased North America's first electrified foam glass gravel kiln and how this creates a material suitable for high performance building envelope projects.

Attendees should wear closed, sturdy footwear. Space is limited! Please register to attend by Wednesday, October 23rd.
