AIAVT Announces Erica Ko and Dave Mentzer as Representatives on the Energy Code Advisory Committees

AIAVT was asked by the Vermont Department of Public Service (PSD) to nominate two representatives to serve on the VT Energy Code Advisory Committees this spring. These committees are part of the input process as Vermont begins the next update to the building energy codes (Residential Building Energy Standards, or RBES, and Commercial Building Energy Standards, or CBES).

AIAVT Board Votes to Double Annual Scholarship Awards

AIAVT’s Board of Directors recently approved an unprecedented increase in AIAVT’s Scholarship Awards for the 2022 fiscal year with the passing of the annual budget in February. The board has doubled the amounts for each of the AIAVT scholarships, increasing the total awards from $6,000 to $12,000 annually. 
This increase was made possible by a generous donation of $5,000 to the Hanne M. Williams Scholar Recognition Fund for 2022 by TruexCullins, as well as the introduction of a new initiative by Pella Windows & Doors of South Burlington. The “Pella + Purpose” program kicked off earlier this

AIAVT Members Recognized by Efficiency Vermont with the Best of the Best Awards
The annual Efficiency Vermont Best of the Best Awards recognize innovative and integrated design approaches for energy efficiency in Vermont’s commercial and residential buildings, as well as partners around the state who make these projects happen. This year's winners were announced at the Better Buildings By Design Conference, which took place on April 27 and 28 in South Burlington.

How the AIA 2030 Commitment Aligns with Vermont’s Energy Goals

There are multiple policies and initiatives pertaining to energy in Vermont.  While these various plans have similar goals – to reduce energy usage and greenhouse gas emissions – they each address different aspects of the fight against climate change.  Our work as architects occupies a critical area where many of these plans overlap: building energy.
