At the AIAVT Annual Meeting and Design Awards event, the recipients of this year’s scholarship awards were announced. The AIAVT Scholarship awards are made possible through the Hanne N. Williams Scholars Fund, which derives support from the AIAVT Annual Guy Teschmacher Memorial Golf Tournament, the AIA National Component Matching Grant Program, and other sources. • Robert Brady Award: One award per year is awarded to a Vermont Technical College student who has demonstrated excellence in their undergraduate work. This award is made possible with a matching grant from AIA. Chosen by VTC faculty, the Robert S. Brady Award is given to the sophomore student who has shown the greatest all-around academic achievement in the Architectural & Building Engineering Technology (ABET) Program. Robert Brady is a former AIAVT member and professor of architecture at VTC. 

  • Ivy Arnold is this year's recipient of our Robert S. Brady Award. 

• Ruth Freeman Award: One award per year is awarded to a VTC student who has demonstrated excellence in their undergraduate work. Chosen by VTC faculty, the Ruth Freeman Award is given to the student in the ABET Program whose work in Architectural Design I has exhibited architectural design excellence. The award is given in memory of Vermont’s first female architect and president of AIAVT.

  • The 2022 VTC Ruth Freeman Award Winner is Ibrahim Nasir. 

• Norwich Honor Award Winners: Two awards per year are awarded to Norwich University students who have demonstrated excellence in their undergraduate work. This award is made possible with a matching grant from AIA. Winners are selected by a committee of Norwich University faculty members at the end of the Fall semester. The recipients are announced at the AIAVT Annual Meeting & Design Awards event each December.  

  • The 2022 Norwich Honor Award Winners are Caroline Fraser and Oluwapelumi Adefarakan, both are students in the architecture program at Norwich University. 

• Scholar Promise Award: Awarded to a graduating high school student who has been accepted to an accredited architecture program in the United States. This scholarship is administered through the Vermont Student Assistance Corp (VSAC).

  • The winning applicants were Bella D. Kamont, and Riyam O Al-Janabi, both will be attending Norwich University.

• Best In Show: One award per year is awarded to a graduating thesis student from Norwich University who has shown excellence in their post-graduate thesis work. This award is given at the discretion of the AIA Vermont Board of Directors based on their review of the thesis projects at the close of the Spring semester. The 2022 Winner of the Best in Show Award was Samuel Libby.
